Welcome to Our Garden
The East Market SDA Community Garden is a ministry of the East Market SDA Church in Greensboro, NC. The staff are a dedicated team of volunteers united by a shared passion for growing fresh, naturally raised produce while fostering sustainability and strengthening and educating our community. Beyond the harvest of vegetables, we also offer a curated selection of herbs and live plants to support your health and bring natural beauty into your home.
Our Story
What began as a vision to cultivate a simple quarter-acre community garden has blossomed into a thriving urban garden with hoop houses, automatic irrigation, and off-grid solar panel system. All brought to life by the grace of God and dedicated volunteers from our sponsoring church, and the surrounding community. We are passionate about the health benefits of fresh, seasonal produce and herbs, and we believe deeply in the therapeutic power of growing and consuming your own food. As our motto states, let medicine be your food and food be your medicine.
Out of the garden project, a bee apiary was birthed, started and maintained by two members of our church, which enhances our harvest because of nearby pollinators who benefit from the pollen collected from our garden.
We also are having and will have, classes on home canning, water bathing, jelly & jam production, and cooking classes with a focus on vegetarian and vegan diets.
What We Grow
From crisp vegetables and hearty vegetable plants to vibrant blooms, everything we offer is grown naturally with care and harvested at peak freshness. We also offer contract planting and harvest for special niche markets.
