Collard Greens

A Southern soul food staple grown fresh at the East Market SDA Community Garden — our Collard Greens are hearty, flavorful, and deeply nourishing. Belonging to the Brassica family alongside kale, cabbage, and broccoli, collards feature large, smooth, dark green leaves with light-colored veins and thick stalks that grow loosely from the stalk rather than forming a tight head. Slow-cook them Southern-style with smoked seasoning for a rich, tender side dish, sauté them with garlic and olive oil for a quick weeknight green, or use the large leaves as a nutritious wrap. Packed with vitamins K, A, and C, calcium, and fiber, collard greens are one of the most nutrient-dense leafy vegetables around. Fresh from our garden — a true taste of tradition!
